WHAT'S HAPPENING AT
THE BRIDGE
YOUR LETTERS ARE NEEDED!

BREAD FOR THE WORLD
Have you been wondering how to make a difference in our community, country, and world? Bread for the World is a non-partisan, Christian advocacy organization that works to end world hunger by urging Congressional leaders to enact policies and programs that can help end hunger in the U.S. and around the world.
Over the next few weeks (May 4, 11, and 18) The Bridge will be collecting your letters, those letters will eventually be combined with letters from other area churches and given to our congressional leaders by Bread for the World. You can learn more about Bread for the World by visiting their website.

We have sample letters for Rep. Darin LaHood, Sen. Dick Durbin, and Sen. Tammy Duckworth (click each name to open). It can be as easy as printing the letter and filling out the blanks - or if you'd prefer you can write your own letter. Please place letters in an unstamped envelope with your name on the front and then look for the letter collection box at church on Sunday May 4th, 11th, and 18th - it should be near the entrance but if you don't see it please ask at the welcome desk.

REDBIRD MISSION TRIP
We will once again be sending a team of volunteers on a Red Bird Mission Trip to southeastern Kentucky - one of the poorest regions in the US. Volunteers will provide much needed home repairs for low-income community residents as well as maintenance on the mission buildings and grounds. This is a great opportunity for young adults or those who enjoy home improvement projects - and if neither applies to you, there's a job for everyone!

We'll announce more as the trip grows closer, including a brief presentation during our church service on February 9th. In the meantime, please e-mail pershingmichael@gmail.com if you're interested or have any questions.
SUN JUN 08

SENIOR SUNDAY
We will be recognizing our high school and college seniors during our service on Sunday June 8th. If you have a senior this year please fill out this form to have them included.

Each Sunday in May, please take a moment to write notes of congratulations, encouragement, or advice to our graduating high school seniors. Even if you are not acquainted with each graduate, please write a note to show them that they are part of the Bridge community. We want our graduates to know that there is a community of believers here who are praying for them, rooting for them, and always here for them to return to and be part of.
The journals will be presented to graduates June 8th on Senior Sunday.
If you or your small group would like the journals during the week, that can be arranged.

This would also be a great time to mention our young adult group (age 18-26) ASK! They meet for Sunday School each week from 9:00am-9:45am in room 414 and would love for you to join them!

BRANCHES
OF WASHINGTON

The Bridge UMC is proud to partner with several local churches and members of our community to form Branches of Washington. Our mission is to help the children and youth of our community arrive at school each day ready to learn.

Our primary means of accomplishing this is through our monthly Care Closets. Students who receive free or reduced lunch are given the opportunity to "shop" for free clothing and personal care products. Branches will also be providing breakfast and snack items for schools to distribute to those in need.
Care Closets are now being offered in all D50, D51, and D52 schools! This is a huge undertaking and we need your help!
