BRANCHES
OF WASHINGTON
The Bridge UMC is proud to partner with several local churches to form Branches of Washington. Our mission is to help the children and youth of our community arrive at school each day ready to learn.
Our primary means of accomplishing this will be through hosting monthly Care Closets. Students who receive free or reduced lunch will be given the opportunity to "shop" for free clothing and personal care products. Branches will also be providing breakfast and snack items for schools to distribute to those in need.
We are thrilled to kick off this new school year by offering Care Closets in all D50, D51, and D52 schools that weren't already being served in this way! This is a huge undertaking and we need your help!
WHAT'S HAPPENING AT
THE BRIDGE
SUN SEP 22: YOUTH SUNDAY SCHOOL
6th through 12th graders are invited to join us for Sunday School each week at 9am in the youth space. A typical week will kick off with a fun game or ice breaker, followed by a large group lesson, and then small group discussion.
Our new series is Trending Now, Christian Takes on Today's Headlines. What is the conflict between Israel and Palestine and is there a correct "Christian" response to the conflict? What's up with the new law in Louisiana about the Ten Commandments? Is that a win for Christians or possibly something else?

SUN SEP 22: YOUNG ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL
Our young adult ministry - ASK, is open to those aged 18-26. We meet for Sunday School each week from 9:00am-9:45am in room 414. We'll be studying the book of James.
ASK also meets occasionally outside of Sunday mornings for studies, social events, and service projects. We hope you'll join us!

SUN SEP 22: ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL
Sundays through September 29th we'll be learning more about United Methodism. Who were the Wesley brothers and why should we care? What is the United Methodist doctrine on salvation? Why is there a flame on our cross logo? How are United Methodists organized? What really are the social principles?
Please join us outside the CPS library on Sunday mornings!

SUN SEP 22: FAREWELL SUMMER SHINDIG
Willow Hill UMC (304 E. Far Hills Dr. in East Peoria) has invited The Bridge to join them (after our usual Sunday morning worship at CPS) for their Farewell Summer Shindig on Sept 22nd! Several food trucks (Mexican, pizza, bakery treats) will have food available for purchase. There will be tents set up for shaded seating areas, but please bring your own lawn chairs. Indoor seating will also be available.
Guided Harness Tree Climbing will be offered by our good friend Curt Franklin from the IGRC Camping Ministries! Donations for IGRC camping scholarships will be accepted. Lawn games available will include GaGa ball, Ladderball, Cornhole/Bags, Connect 4, & water balloons! There will be music and fun for all! Please join us as we say, "Farewell!" to summer!
SUN SEP 22: CHURCH-WIDE STUDY
Everyone is invited to join us as we unpack the parable of the soils in this church-wide study. This 4 week study will be held on Sunday nights - September 15, 22, 29 and October 6 - from 5:00pm-6:30pm at the Bridge office - 401 Walnut St. in Washington.

SUN SEP 27: HOMECOMING PARADE
Details are sparse at this point but save the date!!! The Bridge is once again planning to march in the Washington homecoming parade! We had a great turnout and lots of fun last year - and we're hoping for even more of both this year! So mark the date on your calendars and plan on joining us!
More details will be shared here and via the normal channels (weekly e-mail, Facebook, etc.) as they become available!

SUN OCT 06: YOUTH - TANNER'S ORCHARD
Fun fact: Did you know there's no cell signal in the corn maze at Tanner's Orchard? Last year a group of our girls found out the hard way when they couldn't find their way out! We think they'll be looking to redeem themselves this year!
We'll be leaving from CPS at 2:00pm, return time is TBD. More information will be available closer to the event.

SUN NOV 17: YOUTH GROUP
Our monthly youth group meeting for November will be on the 17th from 6:30pm-8:00pm. Since we cover such deep topics in Sunday School these monthly meetings tend to be more social in nature with a chunk of the night dedicated to games and getting to know one another with a brief lesson at the end.
Youth group is open to those in 6th-12th grade. Youth are encouraged to invite and bring friends! We meet at the Bridge office in Washington - 401 Walnut St.
